I’ve started thinking about the whole comic thing. I’ve got quite a few books on comic art, and although I haven’t got the patience for being a draughtsman on every picture, the scrapper faster style I still like. At least it’s my style…and do what you love.
So I decided to get the tools together to tell a comic story. I’ve got a few program’s on the ipad to help me with putting comic art together, and as I use them I will write about which ones they are and how I am using them.
This is a starter for 10.
Photo source was from a Magazine of Victorian photos of Lost London, £5.00 from whsmith. I didn’t bother pencilling, instead I went straight in with the ink on Letraset bleed proof marker pad. I wanted to see if it would take thickly applied black acrylic ink. – would it cockle? (Yes, a little). Would it work well with dip pen. (Yes, and then some!). Would it photograph on the ipad? Not bad, but not perfect.
I’d have probably worked a bit harder on the perspective lines if I was in the mood, but I just wanted to get something rolling to create a mental context for the comic storyline.
I used Procreate and artstudio on the ipad, and a texture added in a photo app that does such things…must find the answer!
