Ok…so I decided to take the bull by the horns and try a different way of producing a story. And actually have something to show for it!

I want to keep it under wraps for now, but I do want to happily publish the development of the characters.

These are the two main characters. A young lad, and a magician. I’m quite happy with the magician, but the kid kept looking like a Quentin Blake picture. One of the problems of my most comfortable style. However, because I have a fairly structured approach to pictures which comes from an almost animation maker direction using under drawings to maintain size, proportion and design, it means I get used to the characters pretty quick.

And it also looks tidier than Blake’s. If you think they are similar styles, then just compare the pics directly and you’ll see that mine actually have more detail, and look slightly more refined.

The other similarity style is that of Tony Ross. Again, the more structured approach I have helps a bit to keep my style seperate from theirs.

This is where the book started….click here to see the pictured which inspired the story
