A friend of mine asked me recently if I would paint a picture that she had been given by God some time ago. She asked that it be deliberately in a Disney like style, so no apologies for the cutesy chick, and the out of proportion flowers (which of course should be either at the top or out of the picture entirely!)

Rather pleased though, because its the first painting I have done in a couple of years entirely on the computer. To mark the occasion I downloaded Corel Painter X3.
I originally had the painter IX running on my computer, which I used extensively – not exclusively…there are some things you need photoshop for! For example, lighting effects, rain and lightning, and precise burn and dodge which only works on shadow, midtone, or highlight. Corel can’t do the right kind of blurring in my opinion.
Not to worry though. If you have an adobe account (easy to get, just register with them!) and then search for a problem with registering photoshop cs. Basically its no longer supported, so they have released for free (!) cs2! Great news…yes it can sometimes freeze up a little on my windows 8 machine, but no worse than cs did on windows 7
As for painter, it costs the earth.
Unless you are a student…or have a kid in the house who is a student…or you are the grandparent of said kid!!!
