Be aware! We artists have great power.
We have the power to create and tear down universes. Since each ‘thing’ that is in a universe contributes to what that universe is, then when we create a thing, we change the universe.
A change differs from what goes before.
So if it is different, we have created a universe.
And taking something away is the destruction of a universe.
Mwhahahahahahahahah
Ok, so joking aside, we need to take our role as creators seriously.
One of the biggest influential things I’ve done in the last couple of years are these curious things called chat mats. Essentially, doodle style colouring sheets which are there to help people talk together about the bible. The questions on the sheet were thought up by the Goteam at the Diocese of Bath and Wells. It was a concept. I had to take it from there.
What’s it look like?
A piece of A4 paper with a black and white line drawing.

But it is the impact it has had which really counts.
We have heard from teachers, schools, churches, parents. I think there is international stuff going on, and even in prisons.
Where people are coming together and talking, worlds are being created. Conversations. Relationships.
Art is not in itself the be all and end all. Art is just a thing. It’s not what a thing is, it’s what a thing does which has the impact.
