Second in the series of these studies. Light and shadow playing a big part.
I’m a little unhappy with the composition, it needs framing somehow. Usually I’d do that with a tree or two, but it just didn’t work.
Quite possibly this one won’t make the cut.
Just as a side note, you’ll notice the construction lines? If you’re going to create churches then getting points right is fairly important., and it gets tricky dropping windows in perspective on walls between buttresses. Especially arched windows!
My mum and dad-in-law wanted something about Lancashire. I think in the end this church could be anywhere….in fact I remember sitting with my dad when I was a lad drawing sir John Betjeman’s grave church when I was just learning, and it’s not a million miles different! That was my first experience with dip pen and ink, drawing with my dad after a walk around the coast from Polzeath.
