Lots of clergy and regular folks turned up today at the service for the inauguration of the new Bishop of Blackburn, and here’s a little scribble that I knocked up from the South Transept (that is, as you face the table at the top from the front doors, the big space to the right, forming the right hand wing of a cross if you view the Cathedral or church from the top in plan view…does that makes sense?)

The great fun thing of these ‘doose’  is you can hardly see anything.  Its a game of ‘spot the bishop’ – he’s on the top left in the pointy hat, though a lot smaller than many point hats I have seen.  I did wonder to the person next to me whether or not some closed circuit TV’s dotted around the north and south wing might be useful

You might also notice the trumpet players there for the fanfare?

Julian Tudor Henderson (yep, that’s his middle name) has moved here with his wife Heather.  I hear he is a keen cyclist…might he join me on a ride?  And he seems a pretty down to earth kinda a bloke.  Its supposed to be called an enthronement but he wanted it called an inauguration because he is here to serve.

I was going to say ‘hi’ as I missed him last week when came to our church for a quick prayer, but he was too busy.  I was only about 5 foot away from him, and I don’t mention it because I am excited to meet someone important…he’s just another bloke doing ministry for God.  It’s more the reaction I had to the person between me and him.

Hmmm….I thought, he’s being friendly with that chap, I wonder how he seems to know him…30 seconds later…oh, it’s Jack Straw, local MP type chap.

Oh well, trust an MP to get in the way.

hahahahahaha

Not to worry, I’ll catch up with the Bishop another time, perhaps overtake him on the bike as he tries to tackle Waddington Fell.
