Andy Warhole said, “Don’t think about making art, just get it done.
Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it.
While they are deciding, make even more art.”
Lets face it, if art isn’t either loved or hated it hasn’t done its job. When you see rubbish and say “that’s rubbish”, step back and ask ‘why’ it’s rubbish.
As you start to explore it you start to explore your own understanding of rubbishness, which affects your whole value and judgement system, informing you of what you will decide you like and don’t like next time.
And if your next decision, though you don’t know it, is a life changing decision, then that piece of art that you decided was rubbish has actually helped you to decide a momentous decision.
So don’t go through life dismissing stuff. Learn to look, learn to think.
